Book your consultationCeramic braces offer a discreet way to straighten your teeth. While traditional brackets tend to stand out once fitted, choosing ceramic braces enables you to opt for a clear or tooth coloured material, to blend in with your teeth.

Ceramic braces work just like traditional metal braces, using the same method of brackets and arch-wires to gradually move your teeth into position. The primary difference is, rather than traditional metal brackets, they are made from ceramic material that blends with the colour of your teeth, providing a discreet option for our patients, particularly when paired with white arch wires. Ceramic braces aren’t removable - they need to remain in place throughout the treatment process.
The amount of time required to fix the problems with your teeth using either ceramic braces or metal braces is the same. The duration of treatment will vary depending on the complexity of your case, and this will all be agreed between you and your orthodontist at the start of your journey with us. You will attend periodic appointments with your orthodontist throughout your treatment to check your progress.
It is normal to experience some discomfort for the first few days of wearing your new ceramic braces and after each adjustment. If necessary, over the counter painkillers that you might take for a headache should help.
Yes, you should be able to eat normally, but we do advise avoiding some foods and drinks if possible, such as hard or chewy foods and sugary sweets and snacks. Always make sure you brush your teeth well at least twice a day.
After completing your ceramic brace treatment, wearing a retainer is essential to maintain the new position of your teeth. The duration for which you need to wear a retainer will differ based on your specific case. Your orthodontist will provide detailed guidance on how long and how often you should wear your retainer to ensure the best results.
We’ll ask to see you at Cowbridge Dental Specialists for regular appointments throughout your ceramic brace treatment. This is usually every 5 to 8 weeks, enabling your braces to be tightened. It’s also important to maintain regular check-ups with your dentist to take good care of your overall dental health.
